The compact HK45. Shorter barrel and slide than the full-size at 3.94 inches, 8+1, a slim-line grip frame, and three magazines with night sights installed.

The V1 designation is the trigger. This is DA/SA with a safety and decocking lever on the left side of the frame. First round breaks double action, subsequent rounds single action, and the lever both decocks the hammer and functions as a manual safety. That is the traditional HK control layout, and it is the opposite approach from the V7 LEM, which has neither lever.

The slim-line grip is the practical difference from the full-size gun. A .45 double stack is a wide grip by nature, and the reduced circumference on the HK45C brings it into reach for shooters who cannot get a proper hold on a standard frame. Beyond dimensions, the pistol is functionally identical to the standard HK45.

The barrel is polygonal rifled for extended barrel life and accuracy, and the HK45C accepts a threaded barrel for a muzzle-mounted suppressor.

HK's internal mechanical recoil reduction system sits in the recoil assembly. HK states it reduces recoil forces to the weapon and shooter by as much as 30 percent, which improves control during rapid fire and reduces component wear over a service life.

Controls are ambidextrous with dual slide releases and an enlarged magazine release. The frame carries a MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rail. The grip takes interchangeable backstraps, with an additional one in the box.
