The HK45 in V7 configuration. Full-size .45 ACP, 4.46 inch barrel, 10+1, 30.9 ounces, with HK's LEM trigger and no manual safety or decocking lever.

The V7 designation is the trigger. LEM stands for Law Enforcement Modification. The hammer rides partially pre-cocked, so the pull is long enough to be safe under stress but lighter and smoother than a conventional double action. Every shot is identical, first round through last. There is no decocker to work and no safety to sweep, which reduces the manual of arms to draw and press.

The barrel is cold hammer forged with polygonal rifling and an O-ring at the muzzle end. The O-ring provides consistent barrel-to-slide lockup on each cycle, which is where the platform gets its accuracy.

HK's internal mechanical recoil reduction system sits in the recoil assembly. HK states it reduces recoil forces to the weapon and shooter by as much as 30 percent, which also reduces wear on components over a service life.

The frame is polymer with an integral MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rail and interchangeable backstraps. The grip-to-slide angle follows the 1911 profile, and the grip sits low in the web of the hand to keep the bore closer to the axis of the wrist.

Controls are ambidextrous, with dual slide releases and an enlarged magazine release. The slide carries forward grasping grooves and anti-glare longitudinal ribs.

Sights are low-profile drift-adjustable 3-dot. The extractor doubles as a loaded chamber indicator.

Ships with two 10-round magazines and an additional backstrap.
