HK417 Series 7.62mm Rifles
The HK417 A2 is an enhanced development of the HK417 universal rifle in 7.62x51mm NATO. It is available in three barrel lengths and is intended for military and law enforcement special forces applications as well as infantry use in symmetrical and asymmetrical operations.
Gas adjustment is tool-free as standard. The receiver includes a 40mm interface for GLM, M320, and HK269 add-on grenade launchers. The buttstock is a slim telescopic unit, and both the magazine release lever and the bolt catch lever are present on each side of the weapon.
For the A2 generation, HK further optimized the receiver design, the barrel interface, the gas port, and the bore axis alignment to increase accuracy and reliability. The interaction between internal assemblies was streamlined to maximize the ballistic reserve of the 7.62x51mm NATO cartridge and target effect beyond 200 metres.
Depending on mission profile, terrain, and threat level, the HK417 A2 supplements special forces weapons portfolios and serves in general infantry roles.
Commercial equivalent: the MR762 platform is the semi-automatic commercial variant of the HK417, sharing the short-stroke gas piston operating system and much of the design. Botach stocks the MR762 A4 and MR762 A4 upper receiver assemblies.
