The VP9A1 X is the crossover configuration, pairing the 4.09 inch barrel and compact slide of the K model with the full-size F grip frame. This version ships optics ready with no optic installed.

The slide carries an optics cut that accepts most popular red dot sights when paired with one of nine available HK adapter plates. Iron sights are a tritium front with a blacked-out serrated rear.

The barrel uses a polygonal profile with six grooves. Operation is recoil operated with a Browning-type modified linkless locking system and a striker-fired trigger.

The A1 revision includes four interchangeable backstraps, which adjust both palmswell circumference and the distance from the backstrap to the trigger, along with interchangeable side panels. Other A1 updates include a nickel-Teflon coated trigger bar, front and rear maritime slide serrations, a factory-flared magazine well, and a recess cut on the magazine body.

Safety features are a firing pin block and a trigger latch safety. Controls are fully ambidextrous.

At 7.34 inches overall, 5.41 inches tall, and 26.56 ounces with an empty magazine, the X sits between the compact and full-size configurations. It ships with one 17-round magazine and one 20-round extended magazine.
