The VP9SK is the subcompact model of the VP series, carrying the characteristics of the larger frame VP pistols in a more concealable design. This configuration has an FDE polymer frame with a black slide.

The VP trigger has a short, light take-up with a solid single-action-type break followed by a short positive reset.

The barrel is cold hammer forged from cannon grade steel, giving a long service life. HK reports that similar barrels on 9mm P30 models have fired more than 90,000 rounds in testing.

The machined steel slide is protected from corrosion and wear by HK's hostile environment finish. Despite the reduced size, the VP9SK retains weight and balance that make it pointable and controllable.

The grip uses a scaled-down version of the VP adjustable grip system, allowing the shooter to tune the fit.

All controls are completely ambidextrous, with slide and magazine releases on both sides of the pistol. An abbreviated Picatinny rail is molded into the polymer frame, so lights and lasers attach with no modification to the firearm.

Sights are 3-dot. This model is not optics ready and does not have night sights.
