The VP9 in black with night sights, shipping with three 17-round magazines. It integrates a striker firing system with HK's enhanced light pull trigger.

The barrel is cold hammer forged from cannon grade steel with a polygonal bore profile, which extends service life and provides a slight increase in muzzle velocity.

The grip design includes three changeable backstraps and six side panels, accommodating a wide range of hand sizes. Molded finger grooves position the hand for consistent placement. Two additional backstraps and two additional sets of lateral grip plates ship with the pistol.

An extended Picatinny MIL-STD-1913 rail is molded into the polymer frame for lights and accessories. The trigger guard is serrated.

All controls are completely ambidextrous. HK's patented rear-mounted charging supports sit on each side of the slide and provide gripping leverage for racking the slide rearward.
