    Good buy

For the price it’s hard to beat a military issue helmet rated better than IIIA. My sizing was right in between a medium and a small, with no mediums in stock I bought the small. It is a little snug but after rearranging the pads inside it fits pretty comfortably. The boltless designs allows you to arrange the pads and straps wherever you want. Wish it came in FDE but that was easy enough to fix. I’d recommend

    Excellent Value

I have 4 years of experience wearing the USMC Lightweight Helmet (LWH) and spent many hours wearing it overseas during my time as an Infantryman (0341). I have also worn traditional PASGT style helmets during my time within Law Enforcement. I purchased my helmet and received it within several days. The helmet shows a manufactured date of 10/16 but the listing shows a 7-year warranty so I was not concerned. The helmet arrived in excellent condition and had adequate packing materials. The boltless harness setup is pretty neat and holds securely. Just know it would be difficult to change out the harness for any other style that uses traditional bolt anchor points. The pads and harness provided are reasonably comfortable as expected. I find both the harness and pads to be adequate for moderate wear up to several hours. However, If you wear a helmet for extended periods of time on a daily basis I would recommend treating your head to something on the higher end spectrum. The ACH style cut is much lower profile than the LWH or PASGT style helmets. This allows for your ears to be partially exposed which while it reduces the ballistic coverage it increases situational awareness and the ability to hear/communicate with others. It's lower profile rear portion creates less restriction in the prone position. The low profile design also creates a larger field of view. I have not personally tried this helmet with earmuff style hearing pro/comms worn underneath the helmet. All in all, for the price of this helmet, I have recommended it to everyone I see who is still wearing a traditional PASGT style department issued ballistic helmet. You will not be disappointed if you are making the change from LWH or PASGT style for this price. It should be noted this helmet does not come predrilled or equipped to utilize night vision devices.

    Great helmet AS-505 LWACH

Posted by James on 26th Aug 2020

Purchased this 3 weeks ago and have to say it is a great helmet and a bargain price. The only problem is the black color. Botach does not carry the boltless accessories for the helmet either, such as the Armorsource Rails (ASR) and the boltless retention system in different colors to upgrade the helmet. Other than these things a great helmet and fits true to size using the measurement chart.
