The Mark 23 delivers match grade accuracy equal to the finest custom made handguns while exceeding the most stringent operational requirements ever demanded of a combat handgun. It achieves that accuracy without the hand-fitted parts common in custom-built match pistols costing thousands of dollars more.

The MK23 project originated in 1991, when HK began development for the U.S. Special Operations Command, the organization directing the activities of America's most elite military units including the Navy SEALs and Army Special Forces. The first pistols were delivered to USSOCOM for operational deployment on May 1, 1996, making the MK23 the first .45 ACP pistol to enter American military service since the Government Model 1911A1. It remains one of the most thoroughly tested handguns in history.

The barrel is 5.87 inches with a threaded muzzle for a suppressor. The trigger is match grade, in a double action/single action configuration.

Controls are ambidextrous throughout, including an ambidextrous safety lever, an ambidextrous magazine release, and an extended slide release. The pistol has a decocker.

Sights are 3-dot. The frame is polymer with a matte black finish.

Chambered in .45 ACP at 12 rounds, supplied with two magazines.
