Love it! I have a 1st Gen M9 and it's a good gun. This one is a huge improvement, making it a great gun. Works flawlessly. No issues.

    Steyr M9A2

It's just a shame Steyr didn't build a stronger American support network. I purchased this almost sight unseen, as I used to own a first generation M40. In 30 plus years of shooting, civilian, Veteran and Law enforcement I've own, owned and fired Colt, CZ, Star, Beretta, S&W, S.A., Walther, H.K., Glock, AMT and on and on. Like anyone else, some I liked, others I liked more. When I unpacked this Steyr and raised the sights to eye level, I experienced something I consider miraculous. For my entire shooting life I've had one issue that until now I've struggled with... cross eye dominance. For the first time I found a gun that points like my own hand. The trigger is astoundingly good with no crunchy travel or pvc like break. The group texture and size is perfect for my xl gloved size hands. I haven't even bothered to try the included different size side panels or backstraps. The sights are different, but that doesn't matter because the gun points so well. The slide is very low profile with serrations that allow for a great grip. The bore axis is as low as my CZ-75 and P7M13. The magazine well is flared perfectly. The magazines are absolutely solid with base pads that give a great purchase, and room to slam the mags in without hesitation. The group is the perfect length to keep my firing hand away from the mag/frame gap. With a couple of other makes, I've drawn blood on the range doing rapid reloads. The slide release is easy to manipulate, but almost unnecessary, because the slide releases every time I've firmly seated a fresh mag. The mag release does exactly that, the mags drop free without any need to shift my grip. While this all sounds like a paid promotion, it's not! The A2 has shortcomings. The slide and magazine release are not ambidextrous, although the mag release like it can be reversed. The trapezoidal sights are easy to get used to, but no factory night sights are available (only Truglo offers tritium, but only in a 3 dot configuration. Similarly, the pistol does not have a cut for red dot optics. There is at least one dovetail optical plate offering available, but it comes at the cost of your rear sight and it increases the sight height above the bore. The last negative is the lack of holster availability. Fortunately, Cross Breed and We the People each have IWB and OWB offerings. All in all, I simply don't care about the negatives. The M9A2 fits my hand like a glove and everything just works. This is now my edc, taking the place of another polymer framed pistol with an aftermarket trigger, slide, and magazine releases. A custom optic cut slide, tritium sights and a Leupold 6MOA Deltapoint. It also replaces the P7M13 by for carry, because the HK now feels like I am carrying a 7.62 ammo can compared to the Steyr. If this all sounds like I love this pistol, I have something to add... I bought a second one a week after the 1st.
