Description
A great tool that securely holds an upper receiver assembly for maintenance and assembly work. The removal and installation of barrels, flash hiders, gas blocks and hand guards is made much easier and simpler. Designed to be gripped in a bench vise so that the rod is either horizontal or vertical. The upper receiver is then slid onto the rod and the rod’s integral splines enter the barrel extension and secure the barrel extension from turning.
This allows all the torque from barrel nut wrenches to go directly into the barrel extension. The receiver vise blocks transmit the turning force into the aluminum receiver, a good part of which passes through the small, easily distorted receiver index pin. With the Barrel Spline Socket Rod, marring of an upper receiver’s finish by gripping and twisting inside vise blocks is eliminated and so is the need to remove sights and mounts from the receiver’s M1913 rail.

Great tool to change barrel devices
This makes it safe to use a wrench when doing muzzle devices. this way you don't break the barrel tab. Use it, you will save yourself some hassle.

As advertised
Had been considering the steel model for a while, but was reluctant at its price point. Stumbled across this aluminum version here and figured $25 was far easier to roll the dice with. Works as designed, and IMHO much easier to work with than a receiver clamp. Very happy with the quality and fit, especially at the price. Not sure of the longevity compared to the steel model, but this one suits my needs just fine.

AR 308 Socket Rod
Good piece of equipment. Did exactly what it was intended to do. If you are building an AR from scratch, be it AR15 or AR10/308, you should use this to mate the barrel to the receiver. You need to anchor at the strongest point and the steel lock at the chamber mouth is just that.

Good Function and Value
The aluminum socket rod worked well for both my 5.56 and 7.62x 39 (KS47) AR15 style rifles. Made it much easier and safer to replace muzzle devices.
